A man who was shot 16 times in Philadelphia walked into hospital emergency room

PHILADELPHIA _ A 27-year-old man was shot 16 times early Friday morning and then walked into the emergency room at Temple University Hospital.

Police say the man was shot at about 12:30 a.m. on the 1700 block of Tilghman Street in North Philadelphia, nearly two miles from the hospital. Police did not say whether he walked the full two miles, or was transported part of the way. He was in stable condition as of Friday morning.

Officers responded to the area after fielding a call for a person with a gun. Upon arrival, they found numerous shell casings in the area, and about 15 minutes after that, they received a call from Temple Hospital that a gunshot victim with 16 gunshots came into the ER.

No one has been arrested and no weapon was recovered, police spokesman Eric McLaurin said.

The man took five shots to the right side, two to the left hip, three to the upper chest, one to the right shoulder, one to the right side of his neck, and four to his forearms.
