'A man mountain at the back' - Bristol Rovers player ratings after brilliant 2-1 win at Ipswich Town

Anssi Jaakkola – 6

Was clever in the second half by killing time at every opportunity, taking the sting out of the game. Could have relieved the pressure on his defence by being a bit more convincing.

Alex Rodman – 8

Was a useful attacking outlet in the first half, assisting Nichols' goal. Battled well in the second half with Rovers up against it.

Rollin Menayese – 9

Missed a huge chance in the first half, but that didn't spoil his performance. He was a man mountain at the back, unafraid to put his body on the line.

Tony Craig – 8

Commander of the back five. Cleared everything that came his way.

Alfie Kilgour – 8

Another assured performance from the young centre-half. Could have easily crumbled under immense pressure but stood tall.

Luke Leahy – 8

Superb going forward in the first half, playing a big part in the second goal. Put in a brilliant shift after the break.

Ed Upson – 7

Made countless blocks and key interventions in midfield. Was booked early, and played smartly from there.

Ollie Clarke – 7

Can count himself unfortunate to be sent off in strange circumstances, but in his 77 minutes on the pitch he was tireless, brave and a leader for the Gas.

Liam Sercombe – 7

Not massively involved, but his tireless running offered Rovers some relief in the second half.

Tom Nichols – 9

Brilliant, selfless performance from start to finish. Scored an excellent diving header and put in an almighty shift in the second half.

Tyler Smith – 8

Opened the scoring with a thumping finish, and worked so hard for as long as he was on the pitch.

Subs

Victor Adeboyejo (for Smith, 66) – 6

Worked hard and put in a real shift which is especially impressive given he's hardly trained all week due to a virus.

Lucas Tomlinson (for Nichols, 75) – 6

Valuable legs in midfield as the Gas were forced to defend with consistency and concentration.

Not used: Van Stappershoef, Kelly, Hoole, Hargreaves, Phillips.
