A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being attacked by a gang of thieves in his own home.
Police were called to Springside Gardens in Walkden , Salford, on Tuesday night to reports of an aggravated burglary.
It is understood the property was raided by three men who assaulted the victim before stealing personal items. The gang then fled the scene.
A spokesman for GMP said the victim, who is in his 40s, remains in a critical condition in hospital following the attack.
According to those living nearby, police remained at the property - said to be a bungalow - for several days after the incident.

Forensic officers were reportedly seen carrying out investigation work in the garden.
GMP said: "Shortly before 9.30pm on Tuesday, September 24, police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary at Springside Gardens in Walkden.
"Three men entered the property and assaulted the occupant before stealing personal items.
"Emergency services attended the scene.
"The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
