A man 'fell from a car' on the M60 and then ran up the busy motorway.

All traffic was halted on the clockwise carriageway near junction 17 for Whitefield and Prestwich at around 5.45pm on Sunday evening due to the 'serious police incident'.

According to GMP, a male 'fell' from a vehicle and then ran off up the busy carriageway.

An off-duty police officer spotted him and helped him to safety.

The male then voluntarily went to hospital with minor injuries.

The M60 was blocked for approximately 30 minutes from around 5.45pm to 6.15pm yesterday.

The entry slipway at the junction was also closed.

Traffic was queuing for 4.5 miles up to the incident - from junction 17 back to junction 15 for Preston, Wigan and Bolton.

A GMP spokesperson said: "We received reports that a man had fallen from a vehicle at junction 17 on the clockwise carriageway of the M60.

"The male then run off up the motorway where he detained by an off-duty police officer.

"He voluntarily attended hospital with minor injuries."
