A main road in Swansea has been closed because of a fallen tree

A fallen tree has closed a main road through Swansea.

The huge tree in the grounds of St James' Church came down overnight on Saturday night, and damaged a parked car.

Workers have been on site this morning making the area safe.

A section of Walter Road has been closed to traffic, with traffic being diverted around St James' Crescent.

Storm Atiyah, the first named storm of the 2019-2020 season, is due to arrive in Wales this afternoon . Winds could reach up to 70mph.

The Met Office has warned people to secure outdoor objects, including Christmas decorations, during the high winds.

Winds in Swansea are predicted to be between 20 and 29mph but possibly of gusts up to 49mph.
