'A lovely lady and great friend' Tributes pour in for Scots pensioner who died after retail park crash

Emotional tributes are pouring in for a Scots pensioner who died following a crash at a retail park.

We told how Jean Walker from Irvine, North Ayrshire has died following the accident at Riverway Retail Park in the town.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9.55am on Wednesday, October 6.

Jean's vehicle hit a building at the retail park before she was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Officers have confirmed that she sadly died on Saturday, October 9.

Touching tributes have since poured in for 'lovely lady' Jean.

Loved ones took to social media to publicly hail their 'greatly missed' friend.

One friend, who also shared two photographs of Jean, wrote: "It was with a broken heart that I said goodbye to my dear friend Jean Walker who passed away on October 9.

"A friend of many years who I will miss terribly."

Another added: "She will be greatly missed.

"Tragic."

A third posted: "Such sad news, she was a lovely lady.

"R.I.P Jean."

Another wrote: ""She was a great friend, she will be greatly and sadly missed.

"Such a lovely person.

"RIP Jean."

Police stated that the collision involved a female driver and a male pedestrian.

Officers sealed off one entrance to the car park in the immediate aftermath, as they launched an investigation.

The 77-year-old pedestrian suffered minor injuries following the crash.

Police released a statement on Sunday, appealing for information.

Anyone who was in the retail park at the time, or who has dash cam footage should come forward.

Sergeant Craig Beaver said: “Our thoughts are with Jean’s family and friends at this difficult time.

"We are keen to speak with anyone who was in the retail park at the time, or has dash cam footage of the incident, to get in touch via 101 quoting incident reference 0821 of October 6."
