'A lot of bad decisions' - Pundit delivers scathing assessment of Notts County's season

Former Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke has delivered a scathing assessment of events that have led Notts County to Non-League football.

The Magpies were consigned to the National League after a 3-1 defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday, finishing 23rd in League Two and heading out of the top four tiers of English football for the first time in their history.

It brings the curtain down on a traumatic campaign for Notts , who saw Kevin Nolan and Harry Kewell sacked by owner Alan Hardy before Neal Ardley was installed in November, tasked with avoiding relegation.

Notts are up for sale, with Hardy deciding to move on after two-and-a-half years in charge.

He confirmed post-match on Saturday that there is dialogue with interested parties and that a deal could be forthcoming.

"I make no bones about it, they've been let down, the supporters at Notts County this season, for me," he said on Quest's EFL highlights show.

"A lot of bad decisions from top areas of the football club and that's where it's led them, to Non-League football.

"They can bounce back, they're going to have to find it tough but if they stick together and rebuild - sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can start again."
