A lorry carrying thousands of tubes of Pringles caught fire on the M1

A lorry full of tubes of Pringles was destroyed after it caught on fire on the M1.

Police had to close a section of the motorway northbound at Junction 25 in Derbyshire when the lorry went up in flames at around 7am yesterday (January 12).

Photos from the scene show thousands of burnt crisp tubes scattered across the carriageway.

It took several hours for emergency services to contain the fire and clear the scene (Derbyshire Fire and Rescue)

The driver had a lucky escape when he managed to pull over and detach his tractor unit before the flames took hold completely.

He escaped unharmed but the lorry was destroyed in the fire.

Emergency services took several hours to clear the scene and the road eventually reopened at around 2pm.
