A look at the 2019 NFL supplemental draft process

The 2019 NFL supplemental draft will take place Wednesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. PT via an email system.

Teams around the league are first broken up into three groups: clubs with six or fewer wins, non-playoff teams with greater than six wins and the 12 playoff teams. A lottery is then used to determine the draft order for each round.

By the deadline, each club can submit a bid on an available prospect by emailing the league the highest round they would select that player. The highest bidder then wins the player but forfeits that pick in the same round of 2020 NFL draft.

Five prospects are available this year: Washington State safety Jalen Thompson, West Virginia wide receiver Marcus Simms, Syracuse linebacker Shyheim Cullen, Northland Community and Technical College tight end Devonaire Clarington and St. Francis defensive back Bryant Perry.

Players not selected in this year’s supplement draft become free agents eligible to sign with any of the 32 teams.
