A little hockey player stole the show at a Washington Capitals game

Mites on Ice is one of those beloved NHL traditions that make hockey games even more fun. On Wednesday, the Washington Capitals let some of their littlest fans play a scrimmage during intermission and there was one clear standout player.  Not only did little Jackson Friedlander score two goals, but he gave possibly the best post-game interview ever.  Seriously, NHL players could learn a thing or two from his soundbites.

When asked how it felt to be on ice, Jackson instead wanted to remind everyone, “Hockey isn’t about winning, it’s about having fun.”

Asked to name his favorite Capitals player, Jackson gave a shout out to Ovechkin, before using his time in the spotlight to talk about his pet tarantula, Michael who has a big appetite.

Scoring two goals during a scrimmage is no small feat, and like all athletes, Jackson also wanted to thank his entire hockey team for their support and his mom and dad, who he loves very much.
