It’s not just the heatwave turning up the temperature in London this week — the capital’s celebrity circuit has been equally relentless.
On Wednesday evening, Kristin Scott Thomas hosted a special UK screening of My Mother’s Wedding at Ham Yard Hotel ahead of the film’s release.
Guests including actress Jenna Coleman, designers Jasper Conran and Erdem Moralıoğlu as well as Yvette Cooper and Ed Balls were in attendance.
The British star later took to the stage for a conversation with film critic Jane Crowther, discussing her motivations behind the deeply personal project, which she co-wrote with her husband, John Micklethwait.
Across town on Tuesday night, Maura Higgins celebrated the launch of TRESemmé Professional with an intimate dinner at Carbone in Mayfair.
Guests included Leomie Anderson, GK Barry and footballer Ella Rutherford.
Higgins, who is set to compete on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, has also been unveiled as the brand’s first-ever Head of Hair.
Meanwhile, TV fandoms collided at the Freely Fandom House at House Party ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
There were cocktails, face painting, cupcake decorating stations and even a recreation of iconic TV moments, including Drag Race’s Paige Three appearing as Claudia Winkleman.
Attendees included broadcaster Ashley James, The Traitors stars Jake Brown, Leanne Quigley, Alexander Dragonetti, Leon Jackman and Anna Duke, alongside Love Island finalists Harry Cooksley and Conor Phillips.
Elsewhere, the Sugababes quite literally took their performance sky-high after teaming up with Virgin Atlantic for a live set performed 35,000 feet in the air.
The gig, held aboard the airline’s A350 aircraft in its Upper Class social space, The Loft, was livestreamed globally via Starlink Wi-Fi.
“It’s definitely a first for all of us,” the group told The Standard. “Usually we’re asking people to raise the roof but this time we’re literally above the clouds.
“It feels surreal and exciting to be doing something completely unexpected.”
And while London sweltered, part of the capital’s fashion crowd escaped to Ibiza, where designer Harris Reed hosted an intimate birthday dinner at The Standard, Ibiza.
The rooftop celebration drew a creative crowd including Florence Pugh, Joe Locke and Lily Collins.
Also in attendance was designer Chet Lo and stylist Harry Lambert for an evening centred around the hotel’s new Sea & Fire dining concept, a Mediterranean-meets-Japanese menu featuring truffle-topped nigiri, tempura tasting boards and seafood moriawase.
