A-list celebs that have filmed TV and movies in St Helens

When thinking of the big screen, you may picture Hollywood or New York.

However, St Helens has seen its fair share of filming for both smash hit movies and TV shows. From Samuel L Jackson to Max and Paddy, there have been big names to film in the small Merseyside town.

In February 2022, Samuel L Jackson and Olivia Coleman were spotted on a St Helens industrial estate along with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke as they shot scenes near Pilkingtons Glass factory. The visits of Jackson, Coleman and Clarke were not unrelated, with all three A-listers involved in upcoming Marvel mini-series Secret Invasion , which involves the infiltration of Earth by shapeshifting aliens the Skrulls.

Emilia Clarke was also pictured at nearby Crosby Beach. One of the year's biggest shows- The Responder- based on a Merseyside Police officer and starring Martin Freeman, also had key filming take place in St Helens.

Superstar Freeman, who has also starred in The Hobbit and The Office, was seen filming on location at Taylor Park last year. The series follows Freeman's character Chris, who plays an urgent response officer.
