Stormzy praises Brampton Manor Academy after terrific A-level results day

UK Grime star Stormzy has lauded a London school on Twitter, following reports a huge number of successful students from the school scored highly in their A-Levels.

100 pupils at East Ham school Brampton Manor Academy had achieved straight A grades in their A-Levels, according to the Newham Recorder.

The school tweeted that the atmosphere at Brampton Manor was "electric".

The success of Brampton Manor students didn't go unnoticed by grime star Stormzy, who tweeted that while he had no idea where the school was, he would be sending his kids there.

Stormzy has previously stressed the importance of minority groups attending university. Last year, he turned up at his old school in Croydon on A-Level results day to announce a scholarship to send two black pupils to Cambridge University.

The Big For Your Boots rapper turned up at Harris Federation School in Croydon this time last year, where he was pictured grinning as he cuddled A-level students and congratulated them.

The “Stormzy Scholarship” provides students with full funding for a four year course including tuition fees and a maintenance grant that commenced this year.

He said at the time: "It's so important for black students, especially, to be aware that it can 100 per cent be an option to attend a university of this calibre."

"We're a minority, the playing ground isn't level for us and it's vital that all potential students are given the same opportunity," he said.

In order to be eligible for Stormzy’s scholarship to Cambridge, an applicant must be of black ethnicity and have an offer to study at the university.

Good Morning Britain was at Brampton Manor Academy earlier today, filming students opening and reading their results.
