Clockwork Revolution is the next big RPG from inXile, set in the steampunk city of Avalon with a strong focus on time manipulation. It was first revealed during the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, where its rewind mechanic immediately stood out.

It returned at this year's Xbox Games Showcase with a deeper look at character creation, abilities, and weapons. The new footage reinforced how varied player builds can be and how the time-bending systems shape exploration and combat.

Xbox has built a strong reputation for RPGs, with their latest being The Outer Worlds 2, and this looks like another major entry for that line-up. Now, a small detail found online may have given us the first hint at when it could launch, and it might be sooner than some fans expected.

Who Nathan Long is and what his profile reveals about Clockwork Revolution

Nathan Long was a senior writer and narrative designer at inXile, spending more than a decade at the studio with credits that include Wasteland 2, Wasteland 3, and Torment: Tides of Numenera, among others.

He recently updated his LinkedIn profile to list himself as a senior writer, narrative designer, lyricist, and VO director on Clockwork Revolution up until October 2025.

In the same section, his profile shows Clockwork Revolution followed by 2026, which implies the game may be targeting a release within that year. It would not be surprising, given that it was shown again this year at the Xbox Games Showcase.

LinkedIn dates are not confirmations, but they can sometimes be a helpful indicator, especially from someone who would have a clear sense of the project’s timeline.

The game will be released on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows PC via Steam and the Xbox App, with no mention of a PlayStation 5 release yet.

The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
