Melbourne City v Wellington Phoenix
Melbourne City has beaten Wellington Phoenix 1-0 at AAMI Park to remain top of the table.
City maintained its 100 per cent record with a third-straight victory, but the home side was not wholly convincing against the Phoenix.
It was a tight first half, with only three shots on target combined.
But the Phoenix belied the gap between the teams on the ladder with a solid performance.
City striker Nick Fitzgerald was the most dangerous man on the park, but he had one effort saved by Phoenix keeper Keegan Smith, and headed another chance over the bar.
The breakthrough did not come until the 69th minute of the match, when Ross McCormack stepped up to take a free in for Melbourne City, and his low shot came off the inside of the post and in for the opening goal.
