The Newcastle Jets will no longer play premiers City in Melbourne on Saturday with the fixture postponed because of Victoria's latest COVID-19 lockdown.
The announcement was made by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) early on Thursday afternoon with two other matches also impacted by the week-long coronavirus restrictions.
The Jets trained as normal at Ray Watt Oval on Thursday morning and were due to fly south on Friday before playing at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
A rescheduled date has yet to be locked in.
Newcastle are drawn to meet neighbours Central Coast away on Tuesday before hosting Perth in a final-round clash at McDonald Jones Stadium next weekend (June 5).
City's last regular-season match is supposed to be against Melbourne rivals Victory on June 6.
APL Commissioner Greg O'Rourke released this statement on Thursday.
"Tomorrow night's fixture between Western United FC and Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park will proceed as scheduled, without crowds, as per the government direction," he said.
"Saturday's fixture between Melbourne City FC and the Newcastle Jets has been postponed and an announcement in regards to Monday's match between Western United FC and Macarthur FC will be made in the next 48 hours.
"We will continue to monitor the situation based on government and health advice in relation to other matches."
