Newcastle Jets have added depth to their defensive stocks with the addition of former Central Coast left back Mickey Neil.
The 25-year-old replaces Northern Ireland teenager Bobby Burns, who has returned to Scottish club Hearts, and brings 46 games of A-League experience.
In a further boost, talented teenager Lucas Mauragis has signed a scholarship deal until the end of the 2020-21 season.
Both are natural left-sided players and provide balance to the squad.
Neil had been playing in the NSW National Premier League for Rockdale City.
"Mickey is a player with very strong physical attributes and we're looking forward to seeing what he can do," Jets coach Carl Robinson said. "I like giving opportunities to people who have earnt that right, and Mickey has been a standout player in the NPL."

Mauragis, 18, joined the Jets youth team from Canberra United and has been training regularly with the senior squad.
"Lucas is another one who has earned his opportunity through both good performances in the youth team and at training over a long period of time," Robinson said.
"He's a determined and committed character, he's a handy young player and he's a good addition to our squad."
