A leading data expert has predicted where Swansea City, Cardiff City, Leeds United, West Brom and the rest will finish in the Championship

Swansea City and Cardiff City ended the first quarter of the 2019-20 Championship season with defeats against Stoke City and West Brom respectively.

Those at the Liberty will be extremely happy with the start they have made, though, with Steve Cooper's men sitting in fourth place in the standings.

There is a bit more frustration in the capital, with Neil Warnock's team taking time to recover from Premier League relegation. The Bluebirds are still well set, however, to make an assault on the league in the run up to Christmas.

In the meantime, a leading data expert, Nate Silver on his Five Thirty Eight site , has predicted how the Championship table will finish come May.

Leeds United are backed to win the league, with a 29 per cent chance of lifting the title, with a whopping 58 per cent chance of being promoted.

Next come Fulham, with a 24 per cent chance of being crowned champions. West Brom are next in line but miss out on an automatic spot.  

But it is the play-off places that will be of most concern to Swansea and Cardiff fans - with joy for the former and despair for the latter.
