A knee issue knocked Zion Williamson out of the Summer League after just nine minutes

Before Friday’s highly anticipated Pelicans-Knicks game was interrupted by an earthquake, Zion Williamson was forced to leave the game after taking a knock to his left knee.

Williamson wowed the crowd in Las Vegas with a pre-game dunk show, and scored 11 points in nine minutes on the floor. Zion delivered the highlight of the game in the first quarter, when he ripped the ball away from New York’s Kevin Knox and dunked.

After taking an inadvertent knee-to-knee hit, Williamson was ruled out for the rest of the game, and sat on the bench with an ice bag wrapped around his knee. On Saturday, the Pelicans announced that Williamson will not return for the rest of the Summer League. According to the Pelicans, the move is merely cautionary, and Williamson will continue to work out.
