'A joke!' - Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal fans react to Hugo Lloris Ballon d'Or nomination

Hugo Lloris' 2019 Ballon d'Or nomination has prompted a huge reaction from Tottenham Hotspur, as well as rival supporters.

It's that time of year when all the nominees for the big individual award are named.

Released in batches, the likes of Virgil van Dijk,Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alisson were in the first batch.

Then at 8pm the full list was announced.

Making the cut was fellow Premier League stars such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a couple of Tottenham players including Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

And the Spurs captain.

Having helped Les Bleus lift the World Cup in 2018 , the 32-year-old has been recognised for his achievements not only on the international scene but for his club side too as he guided the Lilywhites to the Champions League final last season.

The Ballon d'Or winner will be named in Paris on 2 December and the favourite is Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

With this being a shortlist of the very best players in he world, there was always going to be a debate as to who should have been included.

Many supporters of rival clubs such as United, Arsenal and Liverpool have taken to Twitter to ask how and why Lloris has made the cut.
