A Joe Exotic pet portrait and other bizarre things Glaswegians bought during lockdown

Glaswegians have been occupying themselves in all manner of ways through lockdown, from baking sourdough bread to turning their gardens into home cinemas.

Many of us have taken to online buying, with weird things that we could only ever file under 'non-essential' purchases being bought alongside the everyday items we need to keep us fed and watered.

Nothing, however, quite matches the canvas portrait one person purchased featuring her pet pooch as none other than Joe Exotic next to one of his tigers.

About the random purchase, Kay Beveridge told Glasgow Live : "The canvas is from a company called Doggovinci that I stumbled across scrolling through Facebook one morning about two weeks into lockdown.

Kay Beveridge's incredible purchase of a canvas print featuring her partner's dog Buzz as Joe Exotic (Kay Beveridge)

"We have three bulldogs, Buzz (in the photo) being one of them, he is extremely eccentric and has more of a liking for our other male dog than the ladies and whilst watching Tiger King, a comment had been made that if Joe Exotic was a dog then he'd be our Buzz!

"It was as if ‘Alexa’ had been listening for that advert to then pop up on my phone - bizarre! Buzz is my boyfriend's fave dog and as he loved Tiger King I thought I had to buy it, even though it was about £60!

"When it arrived, I told him I’d got him a gift, unwrapped it and had a look of fear and horror and said ‘That looks like Buzz’ ha ha I told him it was Buzz and showed him the picture it had been done from before he believed me!

He thinks it is hilarious but we are yet to find a suitable place to hang it!"

Other weird purchases that we've been made aware of have included:

  • A large flamingo

  • A 10kg sack of 'hoos rice'

  • A facial vaccum

  • A fish tank two goldfish to go with it named 'corona' and 'virus'

  • A Star Wars Death Star shower curtain

  • A foldable bucket

  • A nose waxing kit

  • A glow-in-the=dark jelly fish lamp

  • A pair of false teeth

  • A pool cover (even though they don't have a pool)

  • Christmas decorations

  • A Christmas tree

Some of these are unreal!
