A jacuzzi, bar and its own wind turbine - this swanky £2.3m Bishop Auckland home oozes luxury

At first glance, it looks a bit like a spaceship has landed in Bishop Auckland.

Take a closer look and you'll see it's Tindale Towers, "an iconic and award winning home" now up for sale in the County Durham town for a cool £2,300,000.

Coming complete with its own wind turbine, the house has won awards for its sustainability, but while its designers may have been interested in keeping things green, they certainly didn't want to go without a few luxuries.

On the ground floor is the "leisure complex" featuring a bar, heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, "discreet glow in the dark tiling", a sauna, changing rooms, a dance floor, cinema projector and a separate gym room.

If you lived here, you'd probably struggle to get bored.

You'd also have pretty much every mod-con imaginable, from self-cleaning windows to "electrically operated soft furnishings".

The floors are all connected by a private lift and an impressive spiral staircase, with the top floor serving as a "stunning penthouse suite".

Viewings are "strictly by appointment only" and we're guessing you've probably got to demonstrate you've got some change of putting up the asking price before you have a poke around.

Luckily for those of us who haven't got £2m going spare, you can have a look at the interior in our video above.

Keep an eye out for the 'sun showers' - a shower and your own at-home tanning salon.

Outside, "extensive" gardens have a "distinctly Mediterranean feel", and their own badminton courts - although you would still be living in Bishop Auckland, so we're not sure even a house as high-tech as this could promise a Mediterranean climate.

Estate agents Purple Bricks said: "Tindale Towers is an iconic and award winning home built with an art deco look whilst having a distinctly modern la style interior, it has appeared on ‘Britain’s Best Home’, and has won several awards for design and sustainability.

"All floors in this simply stunning property are accessed via the lift or the impressive spiral staircase with glazed paneling which is flooded with natural light from the glazed dome ceiling.

"Built as a family residence without thought to cost, the property combines luxury and space with an environmentally friendly footprint which includes advantages such as: Jerusalem stone flooring throughout all four levels, under floor heating, self cleaning glass, heat recovery system, self tanning “sun” showers, electrically operated soft furnishings, lift to all floors, high level security and wind turbine."
