A.J. Green takes steep fall on NFL Network’s Top 100 list

A.J. Green’s injury in 2018 that limited him to nine games greatly hurt him in the minds of his peers, at least when it comes to NFL Network’s annual Top 100 list.

The list, voted on by more than 1,000 players, listed Green as No. 22 in 2018. This year Green popped up earlier than expected Friday at No. 58.

The development isn’t too surprising, at least. Green played in nine games last year and had 694 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He tried to come back from an injury, immediately went down and was only recently cleared to get back to football activities.

Typically, Green ranks in the 20s, and the Bengals are hoping he has the sort of bounce-back season that puts him in that range again. So is he — he’s headed into a contract year and just watched fellow wideout Tyler Boyd get a new contract.

Geno Atkins already made the list at No. 79.
