A.J. Green sheds boot, encouraged by progress but taking it slow

Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green is finally out of his boot.

According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Green has now taken his rehab to a zero-gravity treadmill.

Green still won’t put a timetable on his return but says he’s encouraged and doesn’t want to rush back and get hurt again: “Just making sure I don’t come back too soon and hurt it again”

The original injury occurred on the first day of training camp and a concrete timeline was never set. As the preseason went along though, it was clear Green would miss multiple regular-season games.

Without Green, the Bengals went to Seattle in Week 1 and almost pulled off the upset while getting 150-plus yards and two touchdowns from John Ross.

The Bengals would obviously love to have Green back on the field, yet an encouraging showing in the opener relieves some of the stress of his absence.
