A.J. Green says his next contract isn’t about money

A day removed from Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor saying the team won’t trade him, A.J. Green had more to say on the topic.

According to Ben Baby of ESPN, Green made a point to say his next deal isn’t about the financial side: “It’s not about the money. Got enough money. I just want to make sure to I’m healthy and then everything else will take care of itself.”

For those who have followed Green’s career, this isn’t too surprising. He’s beat the same drum throughout his career, pointing to what Larry Fitzgerald has done in Arizona while saying he doesn’t want to leave the Bengals.

But speculation has been natural given the situation. Green has battled several injuries over the past few years and into this year. The lack of an extension so far, paired with massive market-setting deals for Julio Jones and Michael Thomas helped fuel speculation he and the front office could be far apart.

But as the trade deadline nears at the end of the month, this is yet another signal that Green isn’t going anywhere.
