A.J. Green reiterates no holdout or stress over contract situation

A.J. Green didn’t need to say it again but he did anyway — he doesn’t plan on staging any sort of contract spat with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Green is in the final year of his deal with the team and still working his way back from injury. But it is easy to speculate an extension could be on the way after Julio Jones just got one in Atlanta.

The star wideout doesn’t seem interested in the conversation at all.

“Everybody knows what I’m capable of doing if healthy. All I can do is play like I have the last nine years and it will take care of itself. You never know. It’s a business,” Green said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I have no intention of holding out. I’m not going to do anything crazy. I just want to play football.”

Green is now out of his boot and inching closer toward a return, hence his first big media interview since the summer.

Speaking of the summer, Green made it clear throughout he still wants to stick with the Bengals and team owner Mike Brown has echoed the same sentiments.

How much the gap between the two sides has changed after Green’s latest injury — if it has at all — is hard to say. But Green seems dismissive of the entire conversation while he focuses on simply getting back to playing.
