A.J. Green looking forward to learning new routes in Bengals offense at training camp

Cincinnati Bengals wideout A.J. Green is back and working with the team during mandatory minicamp after receiving his long-awaited medical clearance.

But he’s also counting the days before he can go 100 percent in training camp.

For Green, clearance is nice — being full-go later in the summer and learning his new offense is even better.

“We have a couple different routes I haven’t run before, so training camp is going to be big for me just to get out there, everything is live with the defense going, so it will be good,” Green said, according to Richard Skinner of Local 12.

Green’s offense has been publicly struggling for most of OTAs and minicamp against a resurgent defense, though the asterisk there is the lack of pads and physical running game.

Besides Green being able to change the tide on this front, it is important he gets to fully test the repaired foot and digest the new offense instead of simple mental reps.

In other words, it is a critical offseason in more ways than one for Green, who also figures to be in extension talks right now as he heads into a contract year.
