A.J. Green has been running routes, working with Florida’s Emory Jones and texting Joe Burrow

Any worries about Cincinnati Bengals wideout A.J. Green can seemingly fade.

Let Green tell it, he’s ready for training camp and will presumably be right there on the first possible day to report now that he’s signed his franchise tag.

And Green did tell the media some interesting things in a recent meet. According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, the star wideout has been running routes since February, which seems to wipe out some concern about his prior ankle and toe issues.

Also interesting? Green’s been working out with Florida Gators passer Emory Jones, a potential starter down the road who might have the ceiling to challenge for an NFL gig.

Already a certain NFL starter? Joe Burrow, No. 1 pick by the Bengals. Green also told the media he’s been chatting off and on with Burrow over text.

“You see the energy he brings to his teammates,” Green said, per Hobson. “Watching the national championship game you see how fired up he is. A lot of people don’t look at quarterbacks to be that fired up, but I feel like he’s going to bring that same energy he brought to LSU. I’m just excited to be out there with him.”

After suffering an injury on the first day of camp last year, Green’s probably just as excited as fans to get back to work at this year’s camp now that the roster has been overhauled and a new high-upside passer sits under center.

And at least one analyst thinks Green could put up eye-boggling stats with Burrow getting him the ball.
