A.J. Green addresses trade rumors as rehab continues

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green got in some full-speed work for the first time since the summer on Wednesday and continues to look at Week 7 or 8 as a return point.

He also had some interesting comments about all the trade rumors.

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com painted the scene:

“I tell everybody I haven’t heard anything,” Green says. “I don’t fantasize about anything like that. I’m just trying to get healthy and go from there.”

He also knows it’s a business: “I’m prepared for anything. A trade’s not going to change who I am. I’m still going to play. I’m still going to be A.J.”

Par for the course, as far as Green responses to this topic goes. He’s measured in his approach, though the writeup says it best — everything is shelved right now thanks to the latest injury. The team wants to win and Green just wants to get back on the field.

But Green has never been shy about the fact Larry Fitzgerald is a mentor of sorts and he wants to stick with the Bengals — provided the offer is right.

Reading between the lines a bit, Green needs to get back on the field to help solve whatever impasse the two parties have hit. He understands if a trade happens and has plenty of people in his ear making suggestions about his playing future, but it sounds like it will take the Bengals front office changing its mind to make a move out of town happen.
