A.J. Brown doesn’t want to be compared to Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster

One of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2019 NFL draft is former Ole Miss star A.J. Brown. He’s got a tremendous mix of skills with an NFL body and solid resume. In watching him play it isn’t hard to draw comparisons to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.  But Brown doesn’t want to hear those comparisons.

Brown was asked about his game being similar to Smith-Schuster he was blunt in his reply. “No shade on JuJu, but I don’t like to be compared to anybody,” Brown said.

Pretty confident guy considering he’s the second-best receiver on his own team. But no, it probably isn’t a fair comparison between Smith-Schuster and him. Smith-Schuster has built himself into one of the best receivers in the league in just two season. If Brown can do that in the NFL, he will certainly warrant the same level of praise.

Nevertheless, Brown would be a legitimate target for the Steelers in the first round if they end up trading Antonio Brown. He and Smith-Schuster would be largely interchangeable parts in the slot of the boundary and if James Washington can show some improvement, they would make a pretty deadly trio.

Pittsburgh is doing their due diligence at the scouting combine when it comes to wide receivers. Brown is one of several top prospects the Steelers are meeting with.
