'A huge club' - Gareth Ainsworth wary of Memorial Stadium atmosphere as Wycombe Wanderers travel to Bristol Rovers

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth says he will be making his side aware that they face a hostile atmosphere at Bristol Rovers this afternoon.

Rovers' first home game of the season is against the Chairboys this afternoon and they will be hoping to record their opening win of the campaign.

Speaking to Bucks Free Press, Ainsworth said he expects the game to have a lot riding on it.

He said: "It is a game where we always have a bit of spice because of what has gone on in recent years.

"It is a huge club. They will have 10,000 plus there for their first home game of the season.

"They had a tough opener at Blackpool and they will be strong this season but Bristol Rovers is always a tough place to go.

"We managed to get a win last year in what was a very scrappy, tight game but Graham Coughlan will be wanting his first win of the season and we don’t want our first defeat so I will be making sure we have done all our preparation right.

"The added atmosphere can be intense and I will be making the boys aware of that.

"Also we can almost use that to our advantage. If we have a good start it can get nervy there as well.

"I am hoping that they will be all about beating Wycombe because of what has happened in recent years and we will be just be thinking it is just another game and lets chalk it off and try and get something from the game and that’s important."
