A hot cookie dough stall is opening at Bristol Christmas Market

There will be plenty of culinary delights to savour at this year's Bristol Christmas Market.

Launching in Broadmead today (November 8), visitors will be able to choose from a wide range of goods including Bratwurst sausages, raclette, chocolates and more - as well as the legendary Yorkshire pudding wraps, of course.

And another delicious treat on offer this year will be indulgent cookie dough, a delight popular in America which sees a blend of cookie ingredients mixed into a malleable form, making it easy to shovel in.

Not only is it a sensation for the taste buds but this particular cookie dough at Bristol Christmas Market will also raise money for charity.

The Ho Ho Ho, It's Cookie Dough stall is headed up by Anthony Williams, whose son Rio was rushed to Bristol Children’s Hospital just one day after being born for major emergency surgery.

Two-year-old Rio was diagnosed with Down's syndrome and has been a regular at the hospital ever since.

Since then his family have worked tirelessly to raise money for the Grand Appeal, the charity which has supported them through the challenging period, including knitting blankets and making charity calendars to sell.

Now, along with his friend Simon Brooks, dad Anthony will raise more money by donating 25p from every 'Grand Appeal' cookie dough special sold at the market stall to the hospital charity.

Anthony said: "We’re really looking forward to supporting the charity and the hospital, as they were a godsend to my son Rio when he was so poorly.

"The help they gave us was just second to none, and we’re so glad we can now give something back so that they can help more families like ours."

Ho Ho Ho, It's Cookie Dough will be located next to the popular Jager Barn in the heart of the market, serving from November 8 until December 23, 10am - 10pm.

The cookie dough will be served up warm with ice cream, toppings and sauces from range of specials.

Steph Benson, Community Fundraiser at The Grand Appeal, said: "Christmas is a special time of year for a lot of families, but sadly there will be children like Rio who will need to be in hospital over the festive period.

"We are so grateful for the amazing support from Anthony and Simon, which will help us be there for more sick children and their families, when they need us most."
