A Honda Civic belonging to a woman in her 80s had 'grass' sprayed on it - police are appealing for information

The word ‘grass’ has been daubed across a car belonging to a pensioner leading police to believe it’s a case of mistaken identity.

The vehicle - belonging to a woman aged in her eighties - was targeted by vandals on Friday night (July 24).

Police say the white Honda Civic was parked on Grasscroft, in Brinnington, Stockport, when it was vandalised and daubed with graffiti at around 11.50pm.

Police say it's a case of mistaken identity (GMP)

Officers say the victim has been left without any means of transport as a result of the crime.

They’re appealing for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.

Constable Louise Butterley, of Greater Manchester Police’s Stockport Division, is asking for information about the incident.

The victim is a woman in her 80s (GMP)

She said: “The victim of this crime is a woman in her 80s who has now been left without any means of her own transport.

“Due to the nature of the vandalism, we’re currently treating this as a case of mistaken identity.

“We are releasing images of the vehicle in the hope that it persuades those with knowledge of this incident to do the right thing and hand themselves in.

“Similarly, if you have information on who has caused this damage, please contact the police.”

Contact police on 0161 537 9384 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
