It's no secret that the Irish housing market is one of the most expensive in the world.
The country has been plagued by a housing crisis for the best part of a decade and there is little evidence things are improving.
Rents across the country continue to rise while there is no sign that prices are set to drop.
Prices have remained resilient throughout the pandemic and there are even indications they could rise again in 2021 as shortages plague the market.
Dublin has long been the epicentre, with crazy prices affecting the city centre in particular.
Now an Instagram page is doing a superb job of illustrating just how mental house prices are here.
The account, called @crazyhouseprices, has a superb collection of properties on sale in Ireland and what alternatives you can get for the same price.
One of the most jaw-dropping comparisons made on the page shows a derelict house in Ranelagh on Mount Pleasant Street currently on the market for €1.2milllion.
The three-bed, 238 square metre property would need to be totally done up and doesn't have street parking.
Meanwhile, for the same price, you could get your hands on two houses on your own private resort in Co Kerry with three acres of land.
Another baffling comparison shows a two bed 68 square metre house in Ringsend on the market for €395,000.
While some might consider this a reasonable enough price given the current housing situation, the page admin has managed to find an entire hotel on sale for the same price.
The Whitehouse Hotel in Roscommon is currently up for sale for €395,000 and boasts 19 bedrooms with en suites, a fully kitted bar and kitchen.
There's also a self-contained apartment upstairs.
