A history of Jon Hamm being a St. Louis superfan

There’s a pretty good chance that if there’s a big sporting event involving a St. Louis pro team, actor Jon Hamm will be there.

He was in the Enterprise Center for Game 7 and got a big hug from Patrick Maroon, the St. Louis native who scored the series-winning goal in overtime that was so emotional for him and his son.

It’s a reminder that the Mad Men star was born in St. Louis and graduated from the University of Missouri, and he loves to show up at stuff involving the Show Me State.

Let’s start with Tuesday night, where Hamm appeared for Game 7:

All the way back in 2014, he threw out a first pitch for the Cards:

In 2016, he was at Wrigley Field for Game 3 of the World Series and trolled the heck out of the Cubs using some St. Louis apparel:

At that point, that era of the Cards logo would span the last time the Cubs had won a World Series. That trolling didn’t work, however, as the Cubs won later in that series. And according to someone, Cubs diehard Bill Murray took it off Hamm’s head while the two actors were at a gathering above the Murphy’s Bleachers bar and threw it outside.

He braved the cold to watch the Blues play the Winter Classic in 2017:

He’s lucky — as he talked about on the NFL Network before Super Bowl LIII, he’s gotten to root for the Rams when they left St. Louis and moved to Los Angeles.

And just a few months ago, he called a goal scored by the Blues while on the team’s broadcast:

If there was a celebrity sports fan Hall of Fame, Hamm would be a first-ballot nominee at this point.
