A high school in Leigh has been evacuated after a fire broke out

A school in Leigh has been evacuated after a fire broke out on campus.

Crews were called to Bedford High School on Manchester Road at around 2.20pm on Monday.

It's understood the blaze involves a single storey annexe.

A role call has been completed and all pupils and staff have been accounted for.

Five fire engines are currently on scene and the fire is said to be under control.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 2.20pm to Bedford High School in Leigh to reports of a fire involving a single storey annexe.

"Five pumps are in attendance.

"Role call has been completed. The school has been evacuated and all are accounted for."
