'A heart of gold' - Emotional tributes to East Ardsley crash victim as more than 100 attend funeral

More than 100 friends and family members attended the funeral of one of the victims of the tragic East Ardsley crash in June that claimed the lives of two men from Leeds.

Matty Wilson, 26, and Ian Broadhurst, 34, were travelling in the backseat of a VW Golf on Bradford Road in the early hours of Wednesday, June 26 when the car was involved in a three-vehicle crash. The pair died as a result of their injuries.

helped Matty's family pay for his funeral, which was held today at Cottingley Crematorium - a day before his mum's 50th birthday.

The funeral cortège was led by a horse-drawn carriage and the packed out service was a sea of red and white, which was a throwback to the colours worn on his wedding day one year ago.

Family friend Joe Withers, who grew up with Matty, told LeedsLive: "[He had] a heart of gold through and through. He was genuinely one of the good ones, he really was.

"He loved his wife. He loved his family. He was devoted to his family."

"He was such a funny, happy boy. He always had a smile and a laugh."
