A Hamilton rowdy appeared in court after causing chaos in the middle of the road

Drivers had to swerve as a Hamilton rowdy yelled abuse in the middle of the road.

Robert Hughes, 32, of Earnock Street, appeared at the town’s sheriff court last week.

He admitted threatening or abusive behaviour in Main Street, Blantyre, on July 28.

The court heard Hughes also struggled with police officers, made threats and shouted racist abuse.

He also admitted spitting at a police officer.

Hughes was placed under supervision for a year and must attend drug counselling.
