IDK if you’ve heard, but Brooklyn Beckham blew up up the world this week with a scathing statement that unearthed the years-long feud that has plagued his famous family.
But in between all the behind the scenes revelations, the juiciest morsel from the six-page bombshell was Brooklyn’s claim that his mum, Victoria Beckham, danced “inappropriately” on him at his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz.
“My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” Brooklyn wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.
“The schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me …She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” he added.
Naturally, the cringe-inducing tidbit got everyone talking, not least because it paints a very vivid picture of the former Spice Girl performing all kinds of manoeuvres. Was she twerking? Doing the macarena? Or that awkward hip-jiggle your dad does after too many beers?
One person who spilled about Victoria’s alleged dance was Stavros Agapiou, the partner of British DJ Fat Tony, who performed at Brooklyn’s wedding reception.
According to Agapiou — who was pictured at the ceremony — Brooklyn’s account of the dancefloor antics is accurate.
“I was there and she did, he’s telling the truth,” Agapiou wrote in an Instagram comment that was quickly deleted, per Page Six.
The wedding guest reportedly replaced the comment with another one praising Brooklyn “for finally speaking out”, before sharing an Instagram Story saying he was “keeping my mouth shut from now on”.
With Agapiou keeping mum, other insiders have come out of the woodwork, including one who revealed what Victoria’s dance move actually was; a so-called “nuzzle”. Funny, I never clocked that one on Wii’s Just Dance.
According to that source the whole thing kicked off when singer Marc Anthony, who was performing at the reception, took to the stage for what was supposed to be an introduction for Brooklyn and Nicola’s first dance.
“It was meant to be the big romantic first dance. It was pre-determined specifically for Nicola and Brooklyn,” a wedding insider told Page Six.
The plans were apparently thrown into chaos when Anthony introduced “the most beautiful girl in the room” but mentioned Victoria, not Nicola. Ouch!
The bait-and-switch supposedly caused Nicola to “run off” in tears, at which point Victoria “got up on stage and wrapped her arms around Brooklyn” and “nuzzled into his neck”, the source claimed.
“She was dancing with him very inappropriately. She took that moment from Nicola, that is the God’s truth,” they continued, adding that Nicola “ran out crying” while “the Beckhams’ side of the room was cheering and the Peltz side was quiet”.
While the sources seemingly corroborate Brooklyn’s claim about the “humiliating” dancefloor moment, others aren’t so convinced, telling Page Six it was simply “a family dance” and denying any inappropriateness
One way to get to the bottom of this would be to release the goddamn footage, but I regret to inform you that it may never see the light of day, according to sources who spoke to TMZ.
Those insiders said Brooklyn and Nicola will never share their wedding video out of sheer embarrassment over Victoria’s behaviour, but it’s hard for me to imagine a former pop star serving anything other than diva realness, even when performing a “nuzzle”.
Whatever the case, we know for sure that the wedding was the source of much of Brooklyn’s grievances, since he mentioned it heavily in his searing statement.
From a mix-up with Nicola’s wedding dress to pushback against his seating plan, the Palm beach nuptials were ground zero of a family feud that even Grant Denyer couldn’t contain.
Some day, years from now, we’ll finally get footage of this infamous Victoria dance moment. And that, folks, will be a great day.
