How to complete A Growing Mystery in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To complete the A Growing Mystery quest, you need to help Cogsworth restore the rose garden and learn more about the strange haunting that's overtaken the castle. There are quite a few steps to this process, so here's a full breakdown of how to get it done.
Talk to Cogsworth
Start off by talking with Cogsworth. You can find him standing next to the steps leading into the garden where you previously rescued him during The Haunting of Beast’s Castle quest. He needs your help fixing up the rose garden, but you'll first need to gather some key supplies for it.
Search the west wing to find the rose seeds
Head back inside and venture into the Beast's bedroom. You can find this room by heading back to the Realm entrance and walking straight up the stairs and through the doorway, or venturing into the library, through the secret passage, and up the staircase to enter through the other side of the room.
Pick up the rose seeds

Once you're in the Beast's room, walk over to the wooden crate up against the wall near the enchanted rose. Interact with it to open the storage and grab the four rose seeds from inside. After you have them in your inventory, head back to the garden courtyard. Walk all the way to the center of the maze to reach the spot where you previously met Cogsworth.
Plant the rose seeds in their designated plots
Remove the small rocks and Night Thorns blocking your path so you can plant the four rose seeds around the central area. The four garden beds surrounding the lamp all have sparkling spots on them, which are what you need to interact with to place and grow the rose seeds.
After planting them, chat with Cogsworth, who is standing nearby, to figure out what's wrong with the roses. He thinks they might need a bit of a boost, so you need to make some Rose Fertilizer to help them out.
Craft Rose Fertilizer
Head over to the wall on the right side of the stairs to find a crafting station you can use to make the Rose Fertilizer. Switch over to the Potion & Enchantment tab to find this item, then use the following materials to make it.
- Eight Castle Softwood
- Three Castle Stone
- Three Rich Soil
You should have obtained plenty of Castle Softwood and Castle Stone from clearing away obstacles around the garden. If you don't have enough, pick some up around the area or remove more obstacles to get some.

Once the Rose Fertilizer is made, open your inventory and select the "Use" option on it to apply it to your Royal Watering Can. Head back over to the center of the garden and use your Royal Watering Can to water each of the four bushes.
Gather the Rainbow Roses
The bushes have grown now, and sprouted some vibrant Rainbow Roses. Pick up the roses in the garden to progress. You might be tempted to try to pick them off the bushes, but they're actually already on the ground for you to find right outside of the central garden area. Pick up six Rainbow Roses to finish this task. Show them to Cogsworth once you have.
Place the Rainbow Roses in the empty vases in the hall
Head way back to the Realm entrance area, right by where you previously placed the flying painting. Approach the three vases around the piano and interact with each one to place the Rainbow Roses. Placing these items causes two strange new items to drop, so pick up the Domestic Manual Page 2 and First Enigmatic Key items before you move on.

Chat with Cogsworth and Lumiere by the piano to wrap up the A Growing Mystery quest. This mission may be done, but there's still more work to tackle before you unlock Lumiere and Cogsworth as villagers.
