'A grim day for Newcastle United' How Premier League rivals reacted to Steve Bruce's appointment

Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of Steve Bruce as their new manager.

The 58-year-old has penned a three-year deal at St. James’ Park following talks over the weekend.

The vastly experienced Bruce leaves Sheffield Wednesday after just a few months in charge to take charge of his boyhood club following the exit of Rafael Benitez.

Bruce , who lists Sunderland and Aston Villa among his former employers, is joined at the club by coaches Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence.

"I’m delighted and incredibly proud to be appointed as head coach of Newcastle United. This is my boyhood club and it was my dad’s club, so this is a very special moment for me and my family,” he said.

“There is a huge challenge ahead of us, but it’s one that my staff and I are ready for. We’ll roll our sleeves up and we’ll be giving it everything from the off to ensure supporters have a successful team that they can be proud of.”

Fans from rivals Premier League clubs have now been giving their verdicts on the appointment with many not impressed with the appointment.
