'A great chance' - What the Italian media have said about Maurizio Sarri to Juventus

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri is being touted as a possible replacement for Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus.

It was confirmed last Friday that Allegri - despite having a year remaining on his contract - will leave the Serie A champions following the conclusion of their domestic season which is against Sampdoria this weekend.

However, Sarri was in a relaxed mood earlier in the week when faced with questions about his future.

"My future is Wednesday, I think," Sarri said at a press conference on Wednesday. "I need to think only about the final at this moment. I have two years of contract here, so I have no contract with other clubs at the moment.

"I have to speak at my club first of all after the final. I want to know if they are happy with me or not.

"That is it. I have two more years of contract."

Despite those comments, speculation linking Sarri with a return to Italy won't go away until the Old Lady confirm Allegri's appointment.

Here's everything the Italian media has said about Sarri's links to Juventus.

Sportitalia

Sportitalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who first broke news of Sarri's switch to Chelsea last summer, has claimed that Juve have moved closer to naming Sarri as their new head coach.

Even if the Italian is successful in the Europa League final next week, the chances of him moving to Turin are at over 70%.

Fresh reports coming out of Italy claim that the west London outfit have decided to sack the Italian tactician regardless of the Europa League final outcome and replace him with club legend Frank Lampard.

Gazzetta dello Sport

The Italian newspaper reported that a close friend of Sarri has claimed that the Blues head coach has opened dialogue with Juventus over replacing Allegri.

Furthermore, it has been said that Juve President, Andrea Agnelli, called Sarri personally last weekend to ask about his availability next season.

That would leave the Blues needing to hire a replacement and are reportedly ‘very tempted’ by the idea of hiring club legend Frank Lampard following an impressive first season in management with Derby County.

Although, Juve chief Pavel Nedved insists no contact has been made with Sarri, yet.

"I must immediately clarify something that made a fuss: I was not at Max's conference for reasons of work that I could not postpone," Nedved told Sky Sport, as per Calciomercato. "I was sorry. We have to make decisions and we have made it.

"Once a cycle is finished in a natural way, there is no real reason to keep it going. A very important cycle has ended, this cycle will never be repeated here. Max was immense, he won 11 trophies and won almost everything he was asked to.

"Congratulations to him and to the staff, even to Barzagli. It's their night.

"Inzaghi or Sarri? Assessments in progress, we are not in a hurry. It will not be easy, we know that this cycle will not be repeated. It will be even more difficult. There has not yet been a choice?

"So far we evaluated Max, we have not contacted other coaches. We have clear ideas, but nothing has been done yet."

Football Italia

Marcello Lippi, who guided the Italy national team to World Cup success in 2010, is of the opinion that the Bianconeri could be delaying an announcement until after June 1.

"Why hasn't a well-run club like Juventus named the successor to Allegri yet? Well it's a difficult decision to make, but perhaps they are waiting for a certain competition to end," Lippi said, as per Football Italia.

"We'll see if their new coach comes from those involved in either of the all English Finals, then we will understand the reason for the delay of the announcement.

"This year the English clubs are the best in Europe, but these things go in cycles. I think Sarri has a great chance at winning the Europa League, then there is Pochettino whose family is from Piedmont."
