A graffiti border marking where Withington ends and Didsbury begins has appeared on the pavement

A graffiti border which claims to show the point where two south Manchester suburbs begin and end has been scrawled on the pavement in south Manchester.

The wording, in white paint on Wilmslow Road, simply reads: “Didsbury I Withington”.

The words have been emblazoned outside Ballbrook Court and directly opposite, close to Redcourt Avenue.

It came to light this morning when Aaron Eastwood tweeted: “Official new boundary lines outside Ballbrook Court on Wilmslow Rd in *Didsbury*? #contendersready.”

The author of the graffiti remains a mystery.

But the vandalism has sparked a debate among some as to where exactly the border is.

The M.E.N. spoke to local estate agents to find out where they think the border lies.

Philip James partnership and Bridgfords Estate Agents, both in Didsbury, offered up conflicting opinions.

A colleague at Philip James partnership’s Didsbury office said Fog Lane has always acted as the border between Withington and Didsbury.

He said adjacent Lapwing Lane is technically classed as West Didsbury.

But Bridgfords Estate Agents said there is not really a clear definition between the Didsbury and Withington borders.
