A Golden Globe winner for 'Bodyguard,' Richard Madden still can't shake those James Bond rumors

Even after winning a Golden Globe award, Richard Madden can't escape the rumors that he's in the running to play James Bond.

Following his win for actor in a TV drama with his performance in "Bodyguard," Madden was quickly asked (yet again) to address tabloid reports he could be next to take on the big screen icon: "They are just rumors," he said.

For now, Madden is seeing his golden statue as enough of a career confirmation.

"As an actor, you constantly question yourself: are you good enough? The constant thing to do to yourself is questioning your ability," he said. "I've been an actor for 20 years ... it's a real wake up all to me to believe in myself because other people do."

In the BBC-turned-Netflix series, Madden _ who up until now was best known for playing Robb Stark in "Game of Thrones" _ portrays Sgt. David Budd, a PTSD-afflicted veteran of the Afghanistan war who gets caught in a web of terror plots and conspiracies while navigating conflicted feelings about being assigned to protect a politician who was in favor of the war.

Madden will next be seen in the Elton John biopic "Rocketman," where he plays the music legend's longtime manager, John Reid. As for a second season of "Bodyguard," Madden is game.

"I'm very open to it," he said.
