A Glasgow bar is serving up six drinks inspired by retro Christmas cocktails

What better way to celebrate the festive season than with a Christmassy cocktail in hand? Especially when it's a retro cocktail that fills you with nostalgia.

Well, the folks at The Gate in Glasgow's east end have created five bespoke versions of some of the most classic cocktails to see you through Christmas and into the new year.

Whether you love your Eggnog, can't get enough of a Snowball or prefer a good old fashioned Cosmo, the clever people at The Gate have got you covered.

Here's the full list of festive cocktails available at the bar.

The Baby “Sham”

(The Gate)

If you love a Babycham cocktail, then this grown up festive green version which includes frozen pear and melon sorbet poured over fizz should be right up your street.

Snowball

(The Gate)

There's nothing more retro than a Snowball cocktail, beloved by grannies across the world. The Gate have upgraded the classic with Cognac, coconut, PX Sherry, Egg and topped with Burnt Lemon soda.

The Punch

(The Gate)

We all love a Cosmo (especially SATC fans), but it's not the most festive of drinks. But The Gate have spruced it up for Christmas with gin, ginger, Aqua Vitae, citrus and cranberry bitters.

Egg Noggin

(The Gate)

If ever there was one quintessential Christmas drink, it has to be Eggnog. If you're a bit put off by the idea of the festive tipple, this version, which includes spiced rum, fig, mince pie syrup, egg and walnut, could convert you.

Lam "Bro” Sco

(The Gate)

Inspired by Lambrusco, this fruity, fizzy cocktail includes Arbikie strawberry, vermouth, and dark fruits and is finished off with a topping with bubbles.

Grasshopper

(The Gate)

A vintage classic that was popular in the roaring 20s, this take on the Grasshopper will help you get into the spirit for the return of the 20s as the next decade arrives. The modern update includes cognac, rum, mint, cocoa and Aero - yum!
