A mirror that once belonged to the famous Dracula actor Bela Lugosi has a dark and scary story behind it. Two sisters say the mirror caused them serious harm and fear. The mirror is now at Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, where people can see it if they dare.
According to Paranormal Addict, the mirror was in a house owned by Frank Saletri, a lawyer and movie producer. In 1982, someone shot and killed him in his bedroom, where the mirror was hanging. Police never solved the murder, and many think it was a mob killing.
Before Saletri lived there, the house belonged to Bela Lugosi, who played Dracula in the famous 1931 movie. Cindy Lee, who is Saletri’s niece and owned the mirror later, thought the mirror somehow soaked up the bad energy from her uncle’s death.
This mirror seems way too dangerous to keep around
Lee’s daughters had really bad experiences with the mirror that scared them badly. One daughter said she looked in the mirror and a hand tried to grab her from inside it. She felt like something bit her neck and saw a dark figure in the mirror looking back at her.
Her sister had it even worse because she slept in the same room where the mirror was kept. She kept having bad dreams about the mirror every night and would wake up finding scratch marks all over her skin.
People say Lugosi used the mirror for something called scrying, which is when you stare into shiny things like mirrors or crystal balls to try to talk to spirits or see the future. The museum says Lugosi loved doing this kind of stuff and maybe opened up some kind of doorway to the spirit world through the mirror.
But people who checked into this story found out it might not be true. Lugosi’s own family said they never knew about him doing any magic or spirit stuff, and there are no records showing the mirror really belonged to him.
Even though the Lugosi connection might be made up, what happened to Lee and her daughters seemed very real to them. Lee tried to sell the mirror but nobody wanted to buy it. She could not even give it away for free because of its bad reputation.
Finally, she took it to Bagans’ museum because she thought it was too dangerous to keep at home. Similar to other reported bedroom disturbances, the experiences left the family feeling unsafe in their own home.
After Bagans put the mirror in his museum, strange things started happening there too. The basement flooded for no clear reason, and Bagans says he recorded weird banging and rattling sounds. Now the mirror sits behind a curtain and people have to sign papers saying they understand the risks before they can look at it.
Some visitors say they felt sick after staring at the mirror too long. The museum calls it one of their most cursed items, but some people think Bagans just makes up stories to make his museum more exciting. Like the man who recorded a demonic apparition in his crawlspace, Bagans has documented what he claims is paranormal activity connected to the mirror.
