A ‘genuinely heartbroken’ James Corden slams European Super League in rant

The announcement of the European Super League involving some of the most successful and wealthiest soccer teams breaking away and forming their own tournament (our Nate Scott explained it all for you in case you need a breakdown) has so many people up in arms, whether it’s players, on-air pundits or countless fans.

That includes Late Late Show host James Corden, who is a West Ham fan. Corden took over six minutes of his show on Monday night to deliver a rant in which he slammed the owners who made this move. He was emotional and passionate, and it feels like he summed it all up perfectly:

He ended it this way:

“I hope, as fans, that we remember the names of these owners. The owners of these teams that made this decision, how they hid behind a devastating pandemic as a reason to announce this while the season’s being played … Don’t ever forget that it was them, those owners. They took something so pure and so beautiful, and they beat the love and the joy out of it and they did it for money. They just did it for money, and it’s disgusting.”
