A 'garlic sauce' war has broken out between two sets of car owners in Edinburgh

An Edinburgh-based electrician has filmed himself throwing takeaway garlic sauce at another car because its owners allegedly did the same thing to his Audi S3 recently.

In the clip - posted to Twitter and filmed in Tesco car park in North Berwick, Cameron Paton is filmed by a passenger as he exits his vehicle holding a pot of garlic sauce, before launching it at another car.

The furious driver is seen getting out of the parked car before the video abruptly cuts off.

Writing on Twitter, Mr Paton said:

"A week ago my car got garlic sauce chucked over it in Edinburgh...today I bumped into the lovely couple in North Berwick and gave them their sauce back"

Mr Paton shared this post about the initial incident last week (Cameron Paton)

The video of the incident has been liked over 1000 times and retweeted almost 100 times since it was uploaded on Sunday (21 April).

@matthewcurrie jumped into the comments to ask:

"Well played, what did you chuck back?"

Mr Paton replied:

"Garlic sauce, keep tubs of it in the car now in case this day ever came."

He also said he "couldn't believe his eyes" when he saw the couple who'd thrown sauce over his car:

"Couldn’t believe my eyes man! The red mist of anger just came down and I had to get them."

Some people also asked if the police had been called, to which he replied:

"Nothing the police can do, it’s just sauce."

Mr Paton told Edinburgh Live that the chances of running into them again were "slim to none":

"They clearly didn’t remember my car because they drove past me while I was dusting the sand off my feet."

It's not clear what happened after the video cut off, but the owners of the other car were presumably very angry, and may well start keeping tubs of garlic sauce in their car in case they run into Mr Paton again.
