A further 52 coronavirus deaths confirmed by Greater Manchester hospitals

A further 52 people have died in Greater Manchester hospitals after contracting coronavirus.

The latest data from NHS England has been published this afternoon and sadly there has been an increase in deaths related to Covid-19.

The region's hospital death toll now stands at 3,702.

Today's data shows a further 18 deaths at Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust which operates Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, North Manchester General Hospital, the Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

There has also been a further 15 deaths at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

A further five deaths were reported by Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, two at Stockport and Tameside Trusts and six at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Trust.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Wednesday, December 2, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 389 (+5)
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 681 (+15)
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,046 (+18)
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 316 (+4)
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 315 (+2)
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 412 (+2)
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 18
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 503 (+6)

Nationally, a further 372 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 41,310.

Patients were aged between 19 and 103 years old. All except 17 (aged 19 to 93 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 7 April to 1 December 2020.

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24-hour period.

These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days - or even weeks ago.

They do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
