A further 50 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

It brings the region's coronavirus hospital death toll to 5,430.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust recorded 18 more Covid-19 deaths in its 24 hour figures.

The trust is in charge of the city's main hospitals including the MRI and Wythenshawe.

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust recorded 12 new deaths while Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust recorded seven.

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Bolton recorded four new deaths each.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust confirmed three deaths and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, two.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Wednesday, February 17, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 593 (+4)

  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,070 (+18)

  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6

  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,477 (+7)

  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 463 (+4)

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 509 (+12)

  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 542 (+3)

  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 26

  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 728 (+2)

Nationally, a further 522 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 80,115

Patients were aged between 24 and 103 years old. All except 20 (aged 33 to 91 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from April 19 to February 16 with the majority being on or after February 12.
